2nd of October, 2025 - Beddgelert to Llandudno

Started off the morning posting 5 parcels worth of books home - just to make room in one of my suitcases - any suitcase, I don't care which one, I just need room for 2 more weeks worth of shopping...

Lisa reminded me that before I left home I had said "pfft, I don'r need a whole lot of souvenirs. Can't imagine I'll buy much.". Apparently I've never met me.

Then I spent the day zig zagging all over north Wales. Interesting rather than scenic, which surprized me a little bit. I went to Caernarfon, where I DIDN'T do the Castle, because I'm full on Castles. I should have, I'll likely never get back here, but I was all Castled out, so onward I went. I do have to say, with no judgement, just a recognition of differences - Welsh beaches suck. I saw a lot of sand (and I mean a LOT of sand) and not very much water. A beach needs both - otherwise it's just - well - sand.

Then I headed over to Anglsey and Holyhead (Holy Island) where I explored, both by car and on foot, but not a lot to see there, other than your average main street goings on, so no photos I'm afraid.

I really thought Betws-y-coed was going to be a lot like Bourton-on-the-water, a victim of its own success, but no! It's quite a lot bigger than I expected, very, very much geared towards hikers and walkers, of which I am neither, so I bought an ice cream and plopped on a rock instead. It is, however, gorgeously scenic. Here's proof!

This is just before getting in to Betws-y-coed

This is Betws-y-coed itself (how many times
can I say Betws-y-coed?)

(Thanks for the selfie-stick, Roo!)

I slowly made my way up through Conwy to Llandudno, where tonight's accommodation is. I saw another Castle not far from here. I'd better gird my loins for Conwy Castle tomorrow. I can't skip two of them!

It took me all day to do what should have been a 1 hr 48 minute drive. I'm getting good at this faffing about.
