23rd of September, 2025 - Bath
Had a lovely cooked English breakfast (not what I ordered, but who cares? Ellen's so cute) and talked to the other guests staying at the B&B, who are also Australian. They live in South Australia, but their son lives in Boundary Road, Mount Duneed - 4 streets away from Ian and I. I told them to come visit us next time they go to see their son. I bet they don't but hey I offered. Also, they barrack for Geelong. Go Cats.
Then I headed into Bath for the day. Park & Ride is the best thing ever. £3 for parking for the whole day and the bus drops you right in the middle of town - which is very close to....you guessed it, Bath Abbey! I really like Bath, even full of tourists there's no hustle and bustle. Everybody wanders around looking skywards at the Abbey or peers around corners to see what's up that street and nobody cares. Nobody gets impatient or huffs and puffs walking around the tourists. Cars are endlessly patient with each other and with the pedestrians as these narrow little streets are not made for 2 vehicles going in opposite directions, let alone 2 vehicles and pedestrians with no footpaths. It gives Bath a lovely, cozy, comforting feel.
I did the obligatory tour of the Roman Baths, which was very interesting - and even better, the bit at the end where you get to drink the spa water that everyone says is revolting wasn't working, so that was a let-off!
