London - 7th of September, 2025

Not such a big day today, thank Goodness!

Did manage to get an entry ticket to Dad's, I mean, Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms today, but not until 11.30 so had a leisurely breakfast and then wandered my way down to Westminster ready to go in as a weary tourist and emerge belting out rousing renditions of Rule, Britannia. It was a fascinating museum. The telephone room where all the reports came in and then were transferred to the giant wall map is apparently "exactly" the way it was when everyone walked out in 1945. They all walked away leaving everything untouched, so it's all very much like being transported back to the end of the war.

Love him or loathe him, Churchill was one hell of a leader.

Gazza had this picture on his study wall forEVAH!

Spent a few hours in the museum but got kicked out because they were closing early. The street next door was being used to film the new Chronicles of Narnia series. When the last of us stragglers finally emerged from underground, we had to be escorted out because by now we were in the middle of the set. Everyone in Wartime costumes and vintage cars everywhere - it really WAS like emerging from the bunker in 1945. It should have made the urge to "Rule, Britannia" even stronger, but I refrained. English people are so polite. I was so busy staring at all the Hollywood stuff that I crashed into one of the child actors in full costume and make up and all. She apologized to me. Yeah, some cheek standing doing your job while I'm busy gaping. Kids today, I dunno.

Early afternoon back to the Hotel before heading back to the West End. This time to meet up with some of my fellow Touring party (Tour starts tomorrow) to go and see the musical, Six. It was a great night and everyone seems lovely, which isn't the least bit surprizing.

My attempt at an early night got eaten up by re-packing my suitcases ready to check out in the morning. So looking forward to this Tour, but how the hell did I make so much mess in such a short amount of time?!

  1. Thank you for the updates - it's wonderful to share the trip with you - even vicariously! Although it will get easier - I'm assuming by lunchtime today you'll have lost your voice from all the "chat" and won't have anything to do but write to us! Love ya xx
